Teddy Swims has one of the best voices in the music business today, bar none. He put his golden pipes on full display during tonight’s (December 12) Billboard Music Awards. He had viewers across the country singing along to his smash hit “Lost Control” and his latest single “Bad Dreams” during the intimate performance. Both songs will appear on his forthcoming album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 2).
Decked out in black leather and sunglasses, Swims took the stage early in the evening to perform his latest single “Bad Dreams.”

After accepting a pair of awards for “Lose Control,” Swims returned to the stage to perform the song that brought him his first No. 1. Between Swims’ powerful and emotive vocals and an immaculate guitar solo, he easily delivered the finest performance of the evening.
Teddy Swims on Landing His First No. 1 Hit
Teddy Swims landed his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March with “Lose Control.” Ahead of tonight’s awards show, he spoke to Billboard correspondent Katie Bain about the moment he learned about the song’s success.
“We were flying to Vegas when I found out and it was really awesome,” Swims recalled, adding that his entire family was meeting up in Sin City. “I think I over-celebrated a little bit. For sure. I think we ended up canceling a show a couple of days later,” he added.
“They’re used to it out there, though,” he said about the reaction to his canceled show. “I was talking to people and they were like, ‘Yeah, we call it the Vegas flu out here. It happens all the time. It’s completely understandable. It’s you’re first No. 1,’” he recalled.
However, Swims didn’t just party hard after landing his first chart-topper. He also took time to process the big moment after years of hard work. “I sobbed like a baby. To have my dad and my mom there—and my whole family—it was the most beautiful thing,” he revealed. “My mom was so, so happy. She’s more emotional than I am about any of this. I’m just happy to make my mom and dad proud. It’s the coolest feeling ever,” he added.
