Back in July, Bentley took his Gravel and Gold Tour to Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Pavilion at Montage Mountain. While there, he and Estes teamed up to treat the crowd to a cover of Gill’s “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away.”
“Brought Mae Estes to sing a little Vince Gill with us in Scranton,” Bentley wrote in the post. “You never know what’s going to happen on the Gravel and Gold Your,” he added.
The video shows Bentley, Estes, and a guitarist working on an arrangement of the song backstage. After a key change, everyone finds their place in the song and it sounds great. Then, the video cuts to the pair of singers performing the song together onstage.
Dierks Bentley and Mae Estes Cover a Vince Gill Classic
Dierks Bentley showed his love for Vince Gill with his cover of “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away.”
Gill co-penned the song with Pete Wasner and released it as the second single from his 1992 album I Still Believe in You. It brought the Oklahoma native his second No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Gill found his footing in the early ‘90s. Starting with the latter singles from When I Call Your Name (1990), he found a string of top 10 hits. Then, all four singles from his 1991 album Pocket Full of Gold landed in the top 10. I Still Believe in You (1993) marked a high point in Gill’s career. He released four singles from the album and three of them went to No. 1. “No Future in the Past” was the only single from the album to miss the top spot. It peaked at No. 3.
