ABBA’s Agnetha Fältskog has hinted that all four members of the group may reunite for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. If so, the group’s return would come 50 years after the pop legends made their first appearance in the global singing competition.

In 1974, ABBA first performed their song “Waterloo” in Swedish for the competition, Melodifestivalen, in Sweden. Next, they decided to sing the song in English and take it to Eurovision and won. The song was featured on their second album of the same name and went to No. 1 internationally and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the group’s Eurovision win, Fältskog suggested that she, along with band mates Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, may reunite to commemorate the event.
“You never know anything about ABBA and when we’re going to,” said Fältskog, “Well, I won’t say anything about that. I’d rather be quiet.”
Formed in 1972, the group originally consisted of couples Agnetha and Björn, and Benny and Anni-Frid. They released eight albums together from Ring Ring in 1973 through their final, The Visitors, in 1981, before both couples broke up and ABBA disbanded in 1982.
The group reunited in 2016 to begin working on a digital avatar concert tour and a new album. In 2021, ABBA released Voyage, their first album of new material in 40 years. The release was followed by the group’s ABBA Voyage digital concert residency in London in May 2022. The group previously said that they wanted to use the concert holograms from their recent ABBA Voyages show for “exciting new things.”

“If you are an Abba fan, who loyally has stuck with us for many years, our hope is that you will see the Abba-tars as agents in the new story,” they said in 2022, “which may lead to exciting new things in the future.”
Fältskog recently revealed that she is releasing her first new solo album in 10 years. A reimagined version of her 2013 album, A, Fältskog has revisited the songs to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the album on her new release A+.
