On Tuesday night (June 20) during her show at Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, a fan posted a video showing Max performing onstage when a man comes up and slaps her across the face, just as a security guard picks him up and carries him away. Despite having her head knocked around, Max continues on with the performance, finishing her dance routine before exiting the stage.

“He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye,” Max stated on Twitter on Tuesday (June 20). “He’s never coming to a show again thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA though!”

The incident at Max’s shows comes days after fellow pop singer Bebe Rexha was impaled by a cell phone at her show in New York City on Sunday (June 18). Rexha was in the middle of a performance when a cell phone came flying from the audience and hit her in the face, leaving her with a bruised eye and stitches.

The man who allegedly threw the phone, 27-year-old Nicolas Malvagna of New Jersey, has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of attempted assault in the third degree, one count of harassment in the second degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

The “Sweet but Psycho” singer is currently on the Ava Max: On Tour (Finally), which kicked off on May 31. The North American leg concludes on July 1 at Varsity Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before she embarks on the European leg that begins on July 8 in Madrid, Spain. She’ll tour across the continent throughout the summer, making stops in major cities like Paris, France; and Berlin, Germany. Max is slated to perform in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, on November 23.
