The Green Day frontman has partnered with Gibson to create his own custom Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior guitar. The instrument comes in silver or black with a mahogany neck, a fretboard made of rosewood and Armstrong’s signature on the truss rod cover. It also features Gibson’s hum-canceling design that helps eliminate white noise while playing. The guitar case is pink on the outside with a leopard print interior.

“The single cut 50’s Les Paul Jr has been the root of my guitar tone for over 20 years,” Armstrong said in a press release. “Ever since I bought ‘Floyd’ my 1956 Sunburst Jr, in the early 2000’s I have been addicted. It’s a simple, raw, and powerful guitar that has a sound that just can’t be beat! Plug it straight into any tube amp, crank it and it will roar!“

“The collaboration between Billie Joe and Gibson has been long-standing, popular and successful,” adds Gibson’s Master Luthier Jim DeCola. “Billie Joe has previously used our P-90 and P-100 pickups to great effect and for him to choose the P-90DC on his latest guitar is quite an honor.”

Gibson recently partnered with country superstar Chris Stapleton to create a custom Epiphone guitar.

In November 2022, Green Day confirmed that they’re working on a new album that was recorded in Los Angeles and London. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nimrod, they welcomed 2023 with a reissue of the album that featured hits “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” “Hitchin’ a Ride” and “Redundant.”

“Time of Your Life” is one of the band’s biggest hits. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart and No. 7 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The album was originally released in 1997 and the reissue arrived in January 2023.
