Daily Discovery: Chris Milam, “Autumn”

unnamed

Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Chris Milam

SONG: “Autumn”

HOMETOWN: Memphis, Tennessee

CURRENT LOCATION: As I write this?  Memphis, Tennessee.  As you read this?  Probably touring through your town, stealing muffins from a hotel breakfast buffet.

AMBITIONS: To one day pay for those muffins at the hotel breakfast buffet.

TURN-OFFS Misuse of literally.

TURN-ONS: Everything else.

DREAM GIG: Any gig where fans leave happy and multiply.  Im not picturing the mountaintop yet; Im climbing.

FAVORITE LYRIC: The most recent is She might think that I’ve forgotten her/don’t tell her it isn’t so.”  I’ve heard that song countless times.  Yesterday, it popped up and LITERALLY killed me.  Favorite song title: I’ve Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now).”  It’s perfect.  e.e. cummings got nothing on Otis & Jerry Butler.

SONG I WISH I WROTEGraceland.

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Keith Richards, Amy Poehler, Andre 3000, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Richard Sherman.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Any concert where I hear something I havent heard before.

I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE I was dealing with a broken engagement and I had to.
