Hailing from Minneapolis, Johnny moved to Colorado to pursue electronic music production, but soon came to terms with his obsession for acoustic music and songwriting. His debut, self-titled album (out now) melds dream-folk, Americana, and electric ambiance. If you’re in New York next week, you can catch him at the Bowery Electric for the Tijuana Gift Shop CMJ Showcase on 10/22.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Ornette Coleman. I was in the front row at a theater and he stared at me for thirty minutes while he played ridiculous free jazz with two upright bass players and a drummer.
I WROTE THIS SONG: I wrote this song in one sitting, on a lake. It’s started out with someone specific in mind but morphed into a collage of many relationships and experiences. I set it up to shift perceptions as it goes on. Whether is was successful or not, I’m not sure.
