ARTIST: Josh Gilligan

SONG: “Fear”

BIRTHDATE: June 14, 1991

HOMETOWN: Ocala, Fl

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, Tn

AMBITIONS: Well, I actually finish my music production studies with Berklee this week. During school I’ve been working as a freelance videographer. I’d love to blend these passions into a creative outfit that could serve both the sonic and visual needs of the artist or client.

TURN-OFFS: Negativity.

TURN-ONS: Authenticity.

DREAM GIG: I have loads of artists I’d love to play with, that’s a tough one. Venues… The first concert I ever attended was at House of Blues in Orlando. I’ve seen so many memorable concerts their since. It’s obviously not the crown jewel of all gigs, but I think it’d be a really cool moment if I ever got to play that venue.

FAVORITE LYRIC: Currently it’s “So I suppose you’ll be in every song I sing. If not written in my words, you’ll be hidden in these strings.” – David Ramirez

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “Two” by Ryan Adams

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Jesus Christ, My Dad’s dad , Rick Rubin, Lorne Michaels, and Paul McCartney.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Paul McCartney at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

I WROTE THIS SONG: This song birthed out of a conversation I had with an independent artist I really admired at the time. I was asking him all of these tough questions on how he did what he did, and what it takes to make a good record. He simply told me you just have to start, and stop comparing yourself to other artists. I had previously held this stance that when I had enough training, or enough recording equipment, or a live band that THEN I could start. Thankfully, that mindset broke. This is one of a handful of songs that made up my first full-length release. In general, Fear touches on the paralyzing nature of big decisions.
