Daily Discovery: Kansas Bible Company, “Witches & Wizards”

Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Kansas Bible Company

SONG: “Witches & Wizards”

BIRTHDATE: The dog days of fall 2008. We started out as a mere 7-piece band full of young college hooligans who didn’t know much better. Come 2010 we expanded to our current 11-man unit.

BIRTHPLACE: Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana.

AMBITIONS: We’d love to pay our personal bills and get paid to play music on the road.

TURN-OFFS: 11-man van rides in the peak of the summer, butt-rock.

TURN-ONS: Horn sections, odd time signatures, food, Gorillaz, unlimited bar tabs for 11-man bands.

DREAM GIG: Vegas lounge or cruise ship house band gigging at least 25 dates a month. Or doing that and only playing Chicago songs.

MY GO-TO FEEL-GOOD RECIPE: Wheatgrass shots and neti-pots.

PREFERRED MODE OF TRANSPORTATION: Our van in non-extreme weather.

WHAT MAKES A WOMAN SEXY: She digs monster riffs and horn bands.

5 THINGS EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN: Rocky I-V

WORDS TO LIVE BY: Live long and prosper.

I WROTE THIS SONG: Carl wrote it back in 2008, released it on a solo EP in 2010, then the band worked out our rendition in 2012. Who knows what will happen to it in 2014?
