Daily Discovery: Lonnie Lee Fowler, “The Dollar”

Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Lonnie Lee Fowler (songwriter)

SONG:The Dollar

BIRTHDATE: I was born on a Wednesday, the same week that “The Grand Tour” as sung by George Jones hit #1 on the country charts.

BIRTHPLACE: Butler, PA. A small steel mill town in Western PA.

AMBITIONS: Write a modern-day standard, whatever that would be in today’s music biz.

TURN-OFFS: Insincerity.

TURN-ONS: Sense of humor and adventure.

DREAM GIG: This one time I had a dream that my first band was playing at our high school, but it wasn’t really our high school, but it was, and our 10th grade english teacher had to fill in on drums, but he kept insisting that we all play the songs in iambic pentameter instead of 4/4 time and then I went backstage and there was a long series of hallways that connected to this old abandoned church.

TV ADDICTIONS: Sports and Netflix.

WORDS TO LIVE BY: Love your neighbor.

MY GO TO FEEL-GOOD RECIPE: It’s going on winter now and I love making turkey-lentil chili.

5 THINGS EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN: WD-40, Duct Tape, a good dog, the heart of an explorer and he should own his own mistakes.

I NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT: My favorite songs on my phone. I am willing to be late if I need to sync something new, just so I can have it with me.

I WROTE THIS SONG: and another song called, “I’ll Walk” that Bucky Covington recorded. It was my first cut and my first single as a writer. You always remember your first.
