ARTIST: Mary Bragg

SONG:How & Why

BIRTHDATE:  February 25, 1982

HOMETOWN:  Swainsboro, Georgia

CURRENT LOCATION:  Nashville, Tennessee

AMBITIONS:  Oh my gosh, you should see the list.  Mostly though, to always put good energy into the universe, and to turn that energy into songs that resonate with my fans.

TURN-OFFS:  Really bad songs.

TURN-ONS:   Really good songs.

DREAM GIG:   Newport… then Red Rocks… then SNL.  Also of course the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry.

FAVORITE LYRIC:  HOW DO I CHOOSE?!  I can’t choose.  Okay, okay, one favorite is “Oh you’re in my blood like holy wine, you taste so bitter and so sweet, oh I could drink a case of you darling, and still I’d be on my feet, oh I would still be on my feet.”  -Joni Mitchell

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW:  Always changes based on who’s going through the craziest of times.

SONG I WISH I WROTE:  “Vincent” – Don McLean

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH:  Right now – Buddy Miller. Patty Griffin. Jeff Buckley. Rick Bayless. Loretta Lynn.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE:  My husband Jimmy and I each have top 10 lists, and it’s always been a hard call for me for the top spot between The Little Willies at The Living Room (2011), or Rufus Wainwright at Radio City Music Hall (2008).  Also Feist at Radio City (2012), gah. And Patty Griffin at Central Park (2007).  SEE!!  I’m bad at choosing.

I WROTE THIS SONG:  Thinking about a close friend going through a terrible time, wondering how much longer that situation could possibly go on.
