Recently finishing an east coast tour with Liza Anne, Corey Kilgannon, and Aliza Carter Band, an artist collective known as Kindred, Pinkerton returned to Nashville to begin planning the release of her most recent EP, A Story in Parts. The EP is to be released February 17. Her second full length, currently in the works, is planned to be released late Spring of 2015.

ARTIST: Sam Pinkerton

SONG: Part III

BIRTHDATE: March 6 (1992)

HOMETOWN: Venice Beach, FL

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN

AMBITIONS: I have dreams and aspirations to be a full time writer and songwriter. I enjoy writing songs for myself to sing and often I write with others for others. I keep a blog and am a writer of poems and short stories. I would love to publish a book one day. I’m very passionate about traveling, seeing the world, meeting people, and exploring- never allowing myself to get too comfortable. I would love to lead a life full of adventure, new places, new experiences, speak different languages and indulge in other cultures. Being a musician full time allows me to be creative and travel while supporting myself.

TURN-OFFS: Mediocrity? Monotony? I’m not really sure.

TURN-ONS: Man buns and mint chocolate chip ice-cream. Most definitely.

DREAM GIG: I mean, if I could make absolutely anything up, it’d probably be some type of tour in the UK where we play in art galleries or in gardens and we travel on motorcycle and camp everywhere. I would be happy doing this with any of my friends. Maybe my Irish friend, Ciaran Lavery, my best friend Liza Anne and my most beloved writer, Gregory Alan Isakov. Dream team.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “now i’ve been crazy couldn’t you tell i threw stones at the stars, but the whole sky fell” (The Stable Song, Gregory Alan Isakov)

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Probably Nik Wallenda. I don’t personally know him but my mom does. He’s from my hometown. He walked a tight rope across the grand canyon and that was the craziest thing I have ever seen.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: Ordinary by Copeland.

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH:
1. Corrie Ten Boom
2. Joni Eareckson Tada
3. Sylvia Plath (maybe.. before she lost her mind entirely)
4. Taylor Swift…
5. Earl Sweatshirt

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE:
I really loved seeing Margot and The Nuclear So & So’s at Exit/In. I went by myself. I think I was the only person there over the age of 21. But I stood there, eyes closed, swaying and singing to every song that walked me through my later high school years. I like music that is reflective and nostalgic.

I WROTE THIS SONG:
Part III is one of six parts on my upcoming EP, “A Story in Parts”. The entire EP is twenty minutes and tells a story of losing love, losing your mind, and takes the listener on a journey through self-exploration. Part III is the most upbeat song, for it gives a brief moment of hope, arguing myself back into the realization that I am not doing okay.  Part III leads into Part IV which will be released in a few weeks.
