MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: The Timbre Christmas show this year. Transcendent is the best word I can use to describe it.

I WROTE THIS SONG: Red Wolf didn’t come from some deep personal struggle or necessity to express myself. There are a few places in Heart of Man where I’m writing about myself, but for the most part it’s all tales and dreams, and Red Wolf is probably the most outlandish of them. Oddly enough, it is also the song that has been most embraced by my community- since the story doesn’t belong to me, in a way, it belongs to everyone. I wouldn’t say that Red Wolf is a true folk song by any stretch of the imagination, but I think there is some part of that tradition I have come across. I don’t think that has to do with how the song sounds so much as the sort of story it tells and more importantly how many people sing along when I’m sitting in a room playing it with them.
