DJ Drama Has Huge Weekend with Solo Album and Tyler, The Creator Deluxe

“For what I’ve done for the culture, for what I’ve given the people, and for what I’ve given to hip-hop… don’t ever question about what I mean to hip-hop,” DJ Drama said earlier this month in an interview with the Cigar Talk podcast.

When looking at his career, it’s hard to argue with Drama. And now, he’s added even more accomplishments to his resume, taking part in two of hip-hop’s most intriguing releases on March 31. First, Drama put out his seventh solo studio album as a host, curator, and executive producer titled I’M REALLY LIKE THAT, which is about as straightforward as it gets.

The feature roster for IRLT is astounding. Guests like Tyler, The Creator, Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Symba, Fabolous, Jim Jones, and OMB Peezy have all had Drama narrate and contribute to their solo albums in the past, so it’s great to see them return the favor. Along with additional assists from the late Nipsey Hussle, his Generation Now label signees Lil Uzi Vert and Jack Harlow, Gucci Mane, Offset, and more, the LP’s promotional single “HO4ME” with Lil Baby and A Boogie wit da Hoodie lands on the project as well.

Tweeting out “THIS IS AN UNPRECEDENTED RUN IM HAVIN” on Tuesday (March 28), it’s clear Drama is feeling himself. Simultaneously with IRLT‘s arrival, he also found himself playing a part in the new release of Tyler, The Creator’s deluxe album. Adding eight new songs to his 2021 CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST album, originally hosted by Drama, The Estate Sale sees Tyler and Drama reconnect.

On top of two pre-released tracks earlier this week in “Dogtooth” and “Sorry Not Sorry,” CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale provides cuts like “Stuntman” with Vince Staples, “Wharf Talk” with A$AP Rocky, and “Boyfriend, Girlfriend” with YG, which were all scrapped from the original album.

Having connections with almost every successful rapper in the last 20 years, it’s hard to undermine one of hip-hop’s most relevant figures. On the last Friday of March, DJ Drama decided to use the day to remind fans of just that.
