Thomas Galindo
After being born and raised in San Antonio, Thomas Galindo now lives in Austin, Texas. Earning his bachelor’s degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021, he has been writing solely about music since 2018, both as a student and a professional. Focused mostly on hip-hop coverage, his work during college at student-run publications allowed for him to pursue contracted, freelance, and full-time work post-graduation. During his past editorial endeavors at Our Generation Music, HotNewHipHop, and XXL, Thomas produced multiple different types of stories, including news pieces, album reviews, new music spotlights, listicles, features, opinion pieces, concert reviews, and interviews. His favorite interviews include conversations with rappers, singers, and producers like Denzel Curry, IDK, 070 Shake, Christo, and Merlyn Wood. Outside of writing, Thomas likes to spend his time watching and playing basketball, listening to hip hop and R&B music (obviously), attending concerts, going to dinner and watching movies with his girlfriend, spending too much time on YouTube, and eating chocolate. His favorite athlete is Kevin Durant and favorite sports teams are the Phoenix Suns and every Texas Longhorns athletic team. My favorite rappers and musicians are Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Yeat, Kenny Mason, Baby Keem, SZA, Charli XCX, and Pusha T. In March 2023, Thomas joined the American Songwriter staff as their first ever hip hop writer. Contributing news stories, evergreen feature articles, and interviews, he is proud to be a part of such a lovely team with some of the best editors he’s ever worked with.
