Joe Diffie, who scored a string of Billboard Hot Country hits between 1990 and 2004, died March 29, 2020. He was 61 years old.
On Saturday (March 29) Diffie’s son, Parker, took to social media to remember his father on the five-year anniversary of his passing. Sharing a sweet picture of the “Bigger Than the Beatles” singer giving young Parker a guitar lesson, he wrote, “Today marks five years since you left us, and the weight of that time feels both heavy and fleeting. In the moments when I miss you the most, I find comfort in your music, your laughter, and the memories we shared. Your voice is a constant presence, a reminder of the love and wisdom you instilled in us.”

Continuing, Parker Diffie assured his father that he was doing “everything I can” to keep his legacy alive. “Your music has touched so many lives, and Iโm determined to keep that connection alive,” he wrote. “Iโve been working hard to preserve and share your songs, to tell your story, and to inspire others with the same passion you had for country music. Every time I see a fan light up when they hear one of your hits, itโs like youโre right there with me, and it makes me feel closer to you.”
Parker Diffie Was Previously His Father’s Manager
Parker inherited his dad’s musical genes, auditioning for American Idol alongside sister Kara in 2010. He also contributed to a previously unreleased song on Hardy’s Joe Diffie tribute album, Hixtape.
“Your songs have become a part of our familyโs history, and they continue to bring joy and comfort to those who love you,” he wrote. “I know you would be proud of the way your music has stood the test of time.”
