Concert promotion giant Live Nation’s latest business move is taking them south-to Latin America. The move, a five-year distribution deal with CIE and Time 4 Fun, will focus largely on Mexico and Brazil (the world’s 5th and 11th most populated countries).

Jason Garner, Chief Executive Officer, North American Music, explains Live Nation’s hesitancy to do business in the region, “Wherever we can we want to have a Live Nation office executing, and we haven’t had that in Latin America, largely because CIE is just so dominant.”

CIE is the leading promoter in Latin America and the world’s third largest, so Live Nation is very optimistic about their new partnership. “It was driven by a mutual desire between the two companies to find a way to formalize what has been a very friendly relationship,” Garner explained. “They were looking for a steady supply of talent and we were looking for an exclusive execution partner and that brought the two of us together.”

The partnership will combine the strengths of each company-CIE’s dominance in the region and Live Nation’s ability to bring a wide variety of talented and successful acts-in order to not only bolster an already thriving Latin American music scene but also expose the region to acts CIE may not have been able to attain on its own.

Bruce Moran will head up Los Angeles’ Latin America for Live Nation.
