Paramore Remix Album Features Julien Baker, Romy

Paramore has remixed their long-awaited sixth studio album, This Is Why. The alt-rockers tapped a number of fellow musicians for the project, titled Re: This Is Why, including Bartees Strange, Claud, Wet Leg, Foals, The Linda Lindas, Julien Baker, Remi Wolf, DOMi & JD Beck, Panda Bear, Romy, and Zane Lowe.

“We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence,” frontwoman Hayley Williams said of Re: This Is Why, out now. “Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding.

“We sent This Is Why–the record–out into the world early this year, with all its messages of disdain, distrust, and sobering self-examination,” she continued. “This is the Reply.”

Along with the remixed version of the original track list, the band also included a demo version of a previously unreleased song, “Sanity.” Standout “Running Out Of Time” was remixed twice–once by Panda Bear and once by Lowe.

This Is Why broke a six-year recording hiatus for the trio. “We want to discover new things and figure out who we are today,” Williams told American Songwriter prior to sharing the original version of This Is Why. “Sometimes that conversation is really stressful—because of expectation and projection—and sometimes we are energized by a freedom to go in whatever direction we want.

“This album is a primal scream into the void,” Williams added. “I am constantly both energized and terrified of survivalism. It feels like everyone is in such a state of survivalism. In some ways, that can help you find your people, fight injustices, or help push the world forward, but at the same time, it’s a really terrifying notion.”

Paramore is currently on tour in support of the album. They have a slew of dates in New Zealand and Australia. On top of their own tour, the band is also set to support Taylor Swift again on her European Eras Tour dates. Find their full tour stops, HERE.
