SZA Reveals Heartbreak in London During Show at O2 Arena

SZA‘s hit song “Kill Bill” tells a tragic story of lost love and revenge, but the Grammy winner has just revealed that the song may actually hit closer to home than many fans know. During a performance at O2 Arena in London, SZA revealed that she was once dumped while performing in the same city.

A video of the situation was posted to Instagram by capitalxtra and holds the caption, “her ex fumbled the bag 😭 #szaconcert.” The video depicts SZA at O2 Arena being held up in the air on top of a large flotation device. She nervously starts to speak, revealing a secret to the crowd.

“The Weekend” singer told the crowd, “I never told anybody, but like, my boyfriend cheated on me in this city before. It was terrible. That’s why I was really sad to come here, but you guys made it so much better. Thank you!”

After her revealing tale, SZA performed the song “Nobody Gets Me” from last year’s hit album, SOS. Before the singer jumped into the song, she exclaimed “This song is about my other trash ex-boyfriend.”

SOS, which is SZA‘s second studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album ended up hitting No. 1 on the chart 10 times in a nonsequential order. SOS also reached over 400 million streams in the U.S. in just its first week following release.

During an interview with Rolling Stone Music Now, SZA opened up about how surprised she genuinely felt that SOS was well-received. SZA told the outlet, “I never thought in a million years that people would like it. My dad’s visiting right now, with my mom. Everybody came down to make sure I didn’t lose my mind if the album went bad once it came out.

And now we’re just hanging out, ’cause it didn’t go badly!” She continued. “Even when I was [doing the] track listing, I was like, ‘Ugh, this shit is so boring’ or ‘it sucks,’ or when I couldn’t get some of the things I wanted for the initial cover idea or things weren’t working out, I’m like, ‘let’s just put it out with no cover and just leave everything blank.’”
