Watch: Foo Fighters Animated Trailer Teases Band’s Limited-Edition Pinball Machine

The Foo Fighters have shared a new animated video clip of the band battling a Ghostbusters-like alien invasion while their 2002 hit, “All My Life,” plays. The video was created to promote the forthcoming Foo Fighters-themed pinball machine, manufactured by Stern Pinball.

In the video, the band’s Dave Grohl, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, bassist Nate Mendel and late drummer Taylor Hawkins, jump in a red van together after the alarm goes off at their fire station, and they go off to fight the aliens.

The theme of the animated trailers fits the band’s name since “foo fighter” was the moniker pilots used to refer to an unidentified flying object (UFO) during World War II.

This is the latest addition to Stern collection of rock-themed pinball machines released within the past several years. The company has already released pinball machines for Iron Maiden, the Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Metallica, and The Beatles.

To kick things off, Stern Pinball will make a small number of the limited-edition Foo Fighters pinball machines available for sale on its website on Feb. 28, while an official release date for the machine has not yet been revealed.

The most recent Stern Rush pinball game recently won five trophies at the annual Pinball Awards.

In addition, the Foo Fighters recently hosted two Taylor Hawkins tribute shows in Los Angeles and London to honor the band’s late drummer who died on March 25, 2022, at the age of 50. For the band’s Los Angeles show at Kia Forum on Sept. 27, Hawkins’ 16-year-old Shane sat behind the drums in his father’s place for a stirring version of the band’s 1997 hit, “My Hero” and “I’ll Stick Around.”

In 2023, the Foo Fighters are set to headline several festivals, including Boston Calling, Sonic Temple, Bonnaroo, and Sea.Hear.Now. Grohl recently became the spokesman for Canadian whiskey Crown Royal, and appeared in a series of Super Bowl commercials for the brand.
