ARTIST: Devin Sinha

SONG: “What You’re Given”

HOMETOWN: Seattle, Washington by way of Kansas City, Kansas

CURRENT LOCATION: Seattle, Washington

AMBITIONS: Write songs that are genuine and connect with people and create meaningful relationships.  Grow as a writer and musician while taking risks.  Outside of music, I hope to continue to create new technology that positively changes peoples’ lives.

TURN-OFFS: Discrimination, closed-mindedness.

TURN-ONS: Kindness, creativity, determination.

DREAM GIG: The Gorge or Red Rocks Amphitheaters.

FAVORITE LYRIC: Talk about impossible to choose.  Favorite lyricists are Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Sufjan Stevens, Colin Meloy, John Darnielle, and Sam Beam.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “Time To Run” by Lord Huron

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Abraham Lincoln, Socrates, Harriet Tubman, Stephen King, and Albert Einstein.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: After moving up to Washington, I spent way too much money on VIP tickets to see Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge with Brandi Carlile opening. That was an amazing show.

I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE… Rather than writing about more abstract subjects like “family” or “love,” sometimes I feel drawn to telling stories in songs.  While this song lives within the context of an unhealthy relationship, it’s written more to be heard as a story put to music.
