4 Wild Mick Jagger Moments That Are Stranger Than Fiction

Mick Jagger has lived quite a colorful life as the famed frontman of The Rolling Stones. He has more stories to tell than we’ll likely ever hear. But some of those stories have made it to music history lore, and a lot of them are pretty insane. Let’s look at just a couple of Mick Jagger stories that are honestly way stranger than fiction.

The Margaret Trudeau Debacle

Ah, 1978. What a time to be alive. Unfortunately for Mick Jagger, though, some very politically-charged rumors began to circulate about him and a reported affair with Margaret Trudeau, wife of the then-prime minister of Canada, Pierre Trudeau.

According to lore, Trudeau skipped her own wedding anniversary to hang out with The Rolling Stones in 1978, quite scandalously at a hotel in Toronto. Jagger denied that there was anything uncouth going on, dismissing the accusations as “insulting” to both himself and Trudeau.

That Inflatable Phallus From The Rolling Stones’ 1975 US Tour

Naturally, including a video clip of this thing would probably get me in trouble. Use your imagination or search it up on YouTube yourself. I have to admit, it’s pretty hilarious. The Stones whipped out this insane stage prop during their 1975 tour of the United States, and it’s basically just an enormous, inflatable schlong. Jagger would jump on it during their sets and ride it like a horse. They don’t make rock and roll like this anymore.

Fighting a Paparazzi in Rhode Island

Plenty of rock stars have stories about coming toe-to-toe with paparazzi who get a little too frisky or invasive. In Mick Jagger’s case, on one fateful day in 1975, a photographer had crossed the line. After arriving in Rhode Island, The Stones were waiting at baggage claim when a photographer got just a little too pushy.

Both Jagger and Keith Richards got into a physical altercation with the photo-snapper, resulting in both of them getting arrested. The mayor of Boston at the time had them released quickly, fearing that a riot in his city would break out if the band couldn’t make it to their concert.

The Whole “Hang Fire” Music Video

Mick Jagger is no stranger to making wild gestures and dancing like no one’s watching. It’s part of his brand, after all. However, the music video for the 1981 song “Hang Fire” features some of his most comedic prancing and traipsing ever. I have to hand it to The Stones, they knew how to make a promo without spending any money, though they certainly had enough. The music video for “Hang Fire” doesn’t feature any props, and it was all filmed in one take. And Jagger boogies like there’s no tomorrow.
