I WROTE THIS SONG: and the main character is probably a composite of myself and a few other lovely, yet negative people that I’ve known over the years. I used to sabotage my life and relationships when things started to feel pretty good; it’s probably a survival and self preservation technique that I learned early on in life. Falling in love or taking that next step in your career gives you a lot more to lose and can make you feel more vulnerable. My wife was the first person who gave me a total confidence that everything was gonna be alright. I never had any worries about it not working out with her. That feeling kind of spilled over into other parts of my life and helped me conquer a lot of fears that had plagued me over the years.
