Danica Patrick admits to undergoing fertility treatments in new interview

When you look at NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, it can be easy to assume that she truly has it all. From her beauty, to her physique to her confidence that you can hear in every word that she speaks, she is the perfect example of a woman who is able to do just about anything, and make it look easy.

But in a new interview filmed on Jan. 2, Danica seemed to hint at the fact that even she has had moments where things didn’t turn out the way she had hoped.

“I was looking for something different,” Danica said in an interview on CNBC’s “Power Lunch” about the release of her new book “Pretty Intense.” “Full disclosure, and its in the book anyway, but I did IVF treatments, I froze my eggs, hormones, I gained four pounds, and I’m five foot one, so four pounds make a difference. I just decided I needed to try something new.”

It’s a subject that Danica has become more honest about, having discussed it further in a documentary directed by ESPN sportscaster Hannah Storm that was done before her breakup with longtime boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr..

“I have always had people say, ‘You’ll make a great mom someday,’” Danica said in the film, “and there’d be days a long, long time ago where I would be thinking in my head, ‘I don’t want to.’ ‘I don’t want kids.’ … It’s definitely more of a thought now — and being with Ricky, that is something he has always wanted. If we were going to have a relationship, that had to be something that I wanted. Ricky’s well aware that I’m not having a family unless we’re married in any capacity.”

In the same documentary, she also discussed going through the IVF treatments about a year and a half ago. “I was like, ‘Look, I’m gonna take control of my life here, and I don’t know where it’s going, and I’m not married, and I don’t know what the plan is, and I don’t know how long I’m gonna race, but I can only have 33-year-old eggs today,’” she said. “I just feel like it’s one less concern. It’s like one less thing to think about. And there’s a lot of s— to think about. Especially nowadays, when I have, like, five businesses.”

Indeed, Danica has much to keep her busy at the moment, especially as she prepares to jump back in her racecar for her final NASCAR race during the upcoming Daytona 500 in February.

“I don’t know if it’s broken — it’s just old,” Danica said later in the CNBC interview about the troubles the NASCAR model of marketing/advertising/fan enticement is currently going through at the moment. “If [NASCAR] knew all the answers, they would have fixed it by now.”

All we know is that Danica has never looked or acted stronger than she is at this very moment.

You go girl.
