After Drake fans waited over two months between the day he announced his forthcoming album, For All The Dogs, and the day he confirmed the release date, they’ve now been given quite a gut punch. Early in the morning on Saturday (September 16), the Toronto rapper revealed that he’ll be moving the arrival date of his eighth solo album from September 22 to October 6.

“Okay my dilemma that I’m faced with is either I cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show,” he wrote in an Instagram story. “I owe you all these memories we are building and anywhere we have missed to date will be spinning back for sure. For All The Dogs October 6th. It’s only right…”
As he noted above, the new October release date for the LP will come just before the two-night stint in his hometown on the It’s All A Blur Tour, which has taken up practically his whole summer. In fact, the North American road trip has been a major priority for the emcee this year, as he’s continuously used the shows to give fans updates about the album.

However, Drake’s latest letdown comes just hours after he released “Slime You Out” with SZA, which likely serves as the lead single for the project. Seeing both artists deliver verses about using a romantic partner and then dumping them, “Slime You Out” features Drake and SZA both riding the skeletal R&B production as best they know how, adding loads of excitement for fans which was, evidently, soon dismantled.
With hardly any silver linings and a likely exceedingly growing sense of impatience, Drake fans will just have to resort to a 2-week binge of “Slime You Out,” which confirms the return of “the old Drake” that he alluded to when he first announced the album in late June.
