On September 25, Drake will visit Atlanta, Georgia on his It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage. However, two months before the show, he and fellow R&B star Jermaine Dupri have come together to make a docu-series about one of the city’s most prominent nightclubs.

Magic City: An American Fantasy was announced Monday (July 10) in an exclusive report by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, as it will tell the story of the Magic City strip club, which has been referenced several times in hip-hop music and pop culture. Consisting of three parts, the series will touch on the history and impact of the club, as Dupri is one of the most beloved artists to ever come out of Atlanta.
“Magic City is a second home for me,” Dupri told AJC. “It’s the one place where celebrities, hustlers, politicians, and Atlanta locals all come together. I’ve watched it evolve over the years from a local joint to an internationally recognized spot. It’s about time we tell this story the right way.”
The docu-series will be directed by Charles Todd, who has most notably worked on music videos for Sofi Tukker and Labrinth. Additionally, the executive producer of Magic City: An American Fantasy will be Bayan Joonam, who helped craft similar TV specials like QAnon: The Search for Q, One The Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and Oprah and Rainn Wilson Present SoulPancake.
In the past, Drake helped create HBO hit drama Euphoria, starring Zendaya and soundtracked by aforementioned electronic-pop artist Labrinth. Additionally, this will be the second time Drake has worked with Dupri, as they first came together on the former’s 2009 song “November 18th,” as the latter earned writing credits on the track.
Aside from Magic City: An American Fantasy, Drake is expected to release his next studio album For All The Dogs at some point this year, as it is expected to include a guest appearance from Nicki Minaj and see the singer-rapper revive “the old Drake” in a way he has not yet elaborated on.
