Watch John Fogerty’s Awesome Rehearsal Performance of a CCR Classic with The Black Crowes Backstage at the FireAid Concert

The star-studded FireAid benefit concert, which took place January 31 in the Los Angeles area, featured a variety of unforgettable performances, including some surprise onstage collaborations. One of those collabs featured John Fogerty teaming up with The Black Crowes for a rendition of his classic Creedence Clearwater Revival hit “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.”

Something fans who watched the event didn’t see was Fogerty rehearsing the song backstage with Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson. Now, though, candid footage of the founding CCR frontman playing through the tune on an acoustic guitar as Robinson strums along has been posted on John’s social media pages.

In the clip, Fogerty begins by showing Robinson the opening riff as a couple other Crowes members watch and hum along. The 79-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer then proceeds to play the entire song.

Fans React to the Backstage Performance

The video inspired some fans to share their reactions to the performance in the comments section of Fogerty’s Instagram page.

“The ‘KING’ teaching students!” one fan wrote. “Get em John! Sounds great sir!”

Another commented, “Your band and the Black Crowes is about as good as it ever gets!”

More About the FireAid Concert

As previously reported, the FireAid benefit concert was held simultaneously at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The show ran nearly six hours and featured dozens of famous performers.

Fogerty performed with The Black Crowes at the Kia Forum.

FireAid raised money for those affected by the devastating wildfires that recently ravaged Southern California. The concert was broadcast and streamed live by a wide variety of streaming platforms, radio stations, websites, and apps. The event also was shown at select AMC Theatre locations.

It was announced on Friday, February 7, that the concert will remain available on demand at various platforms for a year. very dollar donated during the Jan. 30 FireAid benefit concerts will be doubled.

Steve Ballmer—owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum—and his wife, Connie, have vowed to match every dollar donated to FireAid. Proceeds raised by the event are expected to exceed $100 million.

Fogerty’s Upcoming Performance Plans

Fogerty currently has three concerts on his 2025 schedule. First up, he’ll be playing the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida, on March 9. He also has a March 22 show lined up in Rancho Mirage, California. Fogerty also will perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 24.
