There was a lot to do in the 1990s. Opportunities to have fun were everywhere seemingly all the time—especially when it came to popular music. And that’s just what we wanted to dive into here.
We wanted to explore three tracks from back in the day that knew how to light up and sustain the party. Indeed, these are three party rock tracks from the early 1990s we can’t live without.

“You Could Be Mine” by Guns N’ Roses from ‘Use Your Illusion II’ (1991)
No band knew how to party quite like Guns N’ Roses in the early 1990s. While the group rose to fame in the late 1980s, it was in the early part of the next decade when they cemented their status as one of the all-time rock bands of the 20th century. Their calling card? High-energy and enough music to keep the party going into the wee hours of the night. For evidence of this, check out the band’s rambunctious 1991 tune, “You Could Be Mine”, which also made its way into the Terminator 2: Judgement Day soundtrack.
“Hard To Handle” by The Black Crowes from ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ (1990)
As soon as you turn it on, this 1990 song from The Black Crowes will do two things. It will get your party moving and grooving. And it will get people lip-syncing to the chorus. There is just something so magnetic and fun about “Hard To Handle” by the band—especially the chorus. It’s part-rap, part-exuberance. And in the 1990s, fans ate it up. We were tuning into popular radio all the time waiting for this track to light up the day just so we could dance and sing along.
“Give It Away” by Red Hot Chili Peppers from ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ (1991)
For decades, Red Hot Chili Peppers have been wowing fans with their music. The stuff bridges genres, blurs lines. But it also gets audiences excited. Fans foam at the mouth for more of the rhythmic, effervescent songs from the SoCal-born band. Just check out “Give It Away” from RHCP’s 1991 LP, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The tune tells you to give away all you got, one bead of sweat at a time. Now, that’s the stuff that will get a party started!
