If the progressive prognosticators are right in saying “the future is female,” well then it seems like that horizon has already hit us. At least when it comes the world of pop music and the stars that have dominated of late. Not only are Taylor Swift and Beyoncé dominating the charts (and conversation) but there are new artists fast on the rise.

Here below, we wanted to explore a trio of examples. Three female pop stars who landed on the scene in major ways in 2024 and then detonated everything around them. They may not be brand new names but we all saw them in brand new lights in 2024 and, it would seem, 2025 will only have more in store for them going forward.

SZA
Not only is she about to star in an anticipated movie produced by Issa Rae, but SZA might be the biggest name in pop music today. In 2022, the R&B singer released her LP SOS, and she followed that up in 2024 with an expanded Deluxe release Lana, which featured more music, more single releases, and a guest feature from none other than Kendrick Lamar. Not only does she have a brilliant voice but her delivery is both familiar and new. Get used to hearing the name SZA because she isn’t going away any time soon!
Miley Cyrus
The former child star turned pop star released her latest LP Endless Summer Vacation in 2023. For that, she earned her first two Grammy Awards in 2024, including Record of the Year, elevating her from well-known artist to icon. Her single “Flowers” was a smash hit and she’s parlayed that into a bigger career in 2024 and beyond. Next year, she has yet another album slated for release, Something Beautiful. Charli XCX
With a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, the British-born pop star Charli XCX made sure that American fans knew who she was. But likely most of them already did thanks to her provocative songs and even more provocative visuals. Charli released her latest LP Brat in the summer of 2024 but with the momentum she’s enjoying now, we wouldn’t be surprised if another big release is coming soon. Combining sex with snarl and incredible pop sensibilities, she’s one of the fastest-rising stars of the moment.
