Kane Brown is partial to the number three—for many reasons. He was 3 years old and three feet tall when he started playing ball. Three was the number on his athletic jersey. There were three people in his family growing up—himself, his mom, and his brother. The number was prime song inspiration before his third child—son Krewe—was born in June.
When Brown sat down with frequent collaborator Gabe Foust and songwriting heavyweights Tim Nichols and Rivers Rutherford to craft something special for his new album, The High Road, “3” was born.
Lyrics include: 3 in the morning and my wife is fast asleep| Like those two girls in that room across from me| Yeah, we thought that we were stopping| But this baby that I’m rocking| Proves this little boy that looks like me was born to be 3
“It just came out,” Brown said of “3.” “I didn’t know if a lot of people would be able to relate to it because, once again, it’s my story. But it’s just really cool to see how many people have just said that that’s their favorite song on the album. Everybody’s got that one number. There’s just something special about that.”

She Said, “I Think I’m Pregnant”
Having three children, 5 years old and under, wasn’t part of Brown and his wife Katelyn’s plan. They thought they were finished having kids. The singer was on a private plane when Katelyn called him with the news.
“She said, ‘I think I’m pregnant,’” Brown recalled. “And then the phone cut off. So I had the whole flight to think about what she just said. And I was just sitting there thinking how and what and why.”
The couple were already parents to daughters Kingsley, 5, and Kodi, 3. Brown remembers being so excited to be a girl dad when Kingsley was born. He hoped Kodi would be a boy but got a tomboy instead. He wouldn’t change a thing. When Krewe turned out to be a boy, Brown called him “just a gift from God.”
“There’s nothing like being a boy dad,” Brown said. “It’s just changed with my girls. I’m like, ‘Oh, they’re so cute and sweet, and I just want to protect them. And then with my son, I’m just like, ‘He’s going to be huge. Look at his muscles.”
Krewe can’t walk yet, but Brown is convinced he’s going to be a track star.
“It’s just different,” he said. “He’ll literally just stare at me. He stares at me and smiles. I’ll be across the living room, walk in, and he’ll just watch me. I love it.”
