There’s inherant drama in all Arcade Fire albums, but we bet you didn’t realize that The Suburbs is about growing up in an Orwellian police state, where homeland security is a twisted joke and the kids are probably not all right. The Houston, Texas-raised Butler boys (Win and William) worked together with music video auteur Spike Jonze to create this rococo nightmare, in which Win guest stars as one of the po-po, as well as the narrator. The resulting short film is as good as Kids, and more fun than a day in the ‘burbs. Also, as if the original album wasn’t long enough, the included CD features two bonus tracks: “Culture War” and “Speaking In Tongues.”
