This January, Beck is branching out. The funky fresh singer-songwriter will team with French artist and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg for a new studio album, dubbed IRM. Beck wrote all of the music and produced the album. The duo co-wrote the lyrics. Gainsbourg is the daughter of influential musician and provocateur Serge Gainsbourg, and has released two acclaimed albums of her own. In 2007, she portrayed “Bob Dylan’s” wife “Claire” in the film I’m Not There.
Beck has been covering songs from Velvet Underground and Nico on his website as part of his awesome Record Club project. Next Thursday, he’ll start on a new album, drafting MGMT, Devendra Banhart, and members of Wolfmother and Little Joy to help.
