Bombay Bicycle Club Share Psychedelic New Single “I Want to Be Your Only Pet”

English indie rockers Bombay Bicycle Club declare their devotion in the trippy new single “I Want to Be Your Only Pet.” Released today (August 23), the slow-grooving experimental tune finds lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Steadman pleading to find escapism through the attention of another.

“I was just playing around with guitar sounds at soundcheck and started playing this riff,” Steadman says in a statement. “Jamie [MacColl, guitarist] must have heard something in it because he got out his phone and started recording. For the next few months, he would constantly text me to ask, ‘Have you written a song around that riff yet?’ So, finally, I did to stop him harassing me. To me, it sounds like if Abbey Road-era Beatles had a love child with Rated R-era Queens of the Stone Age.”

“I Want to Be Your Only Pet” is the third pre-release single from the band’s upcoming album, My Big Day, due October 20. Steadman produced their sixth record, which includes contributions from Damon AlbarnJay SomHolly Humberstone, and Nilüfer Yanya.
