Exclusive: Carly Pearce and Jordan Davis To Anchor ACM Honors Tonight

Carly Pearce and Jordan Davis recently recorded a different kind of duet—they teamed to co-host the 17th Academy of Country Music Honors.

Featuring Pearce, Davis, Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, and more, the 17th Academy of Country Music Honors will air tonight (9:00 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT / 6 p.m. PT) on Merit Street, marking the first time the special will air on the network.

“I love getting to host,” Pearce said before the show. “That’s something I’ve always wanted to do. But I think this event, in particular, inspires me every year because it’s so different.”

Pearce said ACM Honors features different artists and collaborators every year to help celebrate the business side of the music business.

“I think it’s really important we celebrate Trisha,” Pearce said. “I’ve always loved Trisha. Trisha has now become a friend and somebody that I look up to so much. The essence of everything that she’s done in the career and just the artists and singer she is.”

Yearwood is unquestionably an icon, and Pearce is also unwavering in her dedication.

“I loved Trisha,” Pearce said. “I’ve always loved Trisha. Trisha has now become a friend and somebody that I look up to so much. The essence of everything that she’s done in her career, just the artist that she is.”

Other artists and industry executives honored during the show include Walt Aldridge, Tony Brown, Luke Bryan, Jackson, Shannon Sanders, and Lainey Wilson. Chris Stapleton won Artist-Songwriter, and Jessie Jo Dillon was the Year and Songwriter of the Year winner. The program will feature performances and presentations from Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Terri Clark, Davis, Jackson Dean, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Tyler Hubbard, Jamey Johnson, Post Malone, Kameron Marlowe, Ashley McBryde, Pearce, Keith Urban, and Lee Ann Womack with the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

“I love anything that honors everybody behind the scenes,” Urban said. “That’s why I love hosting the CMA Touring Awards. This is no different. I mean, everybody sees us, Luke, me, Garth, everybody. But behind us there’s so many people, writers and producers and players and everybody. So I love that. Tonight is all about that.”

Hubbard agreed.

“It feels great to be here tonight to get to honor the people that are typically behind the scenes a bit more, the industry and session players,” he said. “And for me, I’m getting to present a lot of those awards, so it’s really cool. It’s a huge honor. I consider it a huge honor to be here and to be able to perform so I’m excited about that.”
