L.A. artist Grant Lee-Philips turned in the year’s Best Singer/Songwriter Album, according to the editors at iTunes. The company recently named Phillips’ Yep Roc album Little Moon the best in its field.

“Being a lover of all sorts of music, iTunes is a godsend. I’m so very touched by this recognition and proud to be part of the iTunes community,” says Phillips.

Philips fronted the band Grant Lee Buffalo in the ’90s, before branching out on his own to forge a successful solo career (you may also know him as the Stars Hollow troubadour on Gilmore Girls.) Little Moon was primarily cut live, and was recorded in just four days. The video for the single “Good Morning Happiness” features animation from Philips himself.
