Keller Williams Has a Doobie In His Pocket

Videos by American Songwriter

Is that a doobie in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

In preperation for his next record, ODD, one-man-jam-band Keller Williams has been releasing a new track a week via his free “Once A Week Freek” site online. In addition to live recordings and rare studio cuts, you can preview cuts from Keller’s latest opus before it hist stores on August 12. This week sees the debut of the abundantly wordy “Doobie In My Pocket,” a song already known and loved by fans from Williams’ live shows.

Keller writes of the track:

This was one of those songs that just wrote itself. It appears to be a favorite of folks that come to see me play. It was literally made up before any of it was actually written down. It was around the time that I just started doing festivals with Keith Moseley, Gibb Droll and Jeff Sipe. I believe I was going from summer camp which is near Peoria Illinois to smile fest which is  near Asheville N.C. Its a  listener or what I like to call “a think piece”. If you mentally drift off during some of the many stream of consciousness type of lyrics, you might miss the impact of the punchline at the end. So try and stay with me, ok?

Will “Doobie in My Pocket” be a hit? Listen here and make up your own mind.

  1. If you haven’t checked out Keller live make sure you don’t miss it when he comes to your town. He never disappoints, always a fun time. If you live in CO make sure to go to the Mishawaka shows, you get to see him solo and with his band!!!
