Miley Cyrus has revealed that the lyrics to her catchy new single “Party In The U.S.A.” are not exactly “from the heart.” The song describes flying into LA and hearing a Jay-Z song on the radio, which helps to soothe her nerves. “They’re playing my song,” Cyrus sings.

“My tummys turnin and I’m feelin kinda home sick/Too much pressure and I’m nervous,/That’s when the taxi man turned on the radio/and a Jay-Z song was on/and the Jay-Z song was on/and the Jay-Z song was on.”

However, in a new interview on the MileyWorld web site, when asked which Jay-Z song inspired the song, the pop starlet candidly answers: “I’ve never heard a Jay-Z song. I don’t listen to pop music. [‘Party in the U.S.A.’] is not even my style of music. I’m really blessed for it to have done as well as it has. Totally blessed. God has definitely put me in an amazing position with amazing people.”

“I don’t know, I didn’t write the song, so I have no idea,” Cyrus went on to say. “Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn’t write it [and] I didn’t expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best.”

“Party” was written by Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Jessica Cornish. Maybe they like Jay-Z.

  1. ok, is it just me or is that song actually kind of…dare I say… good? I mean the verses are catchy and well written, as is the hook in the chorus. Granted, I probably would’ve made the end of the chorus something as cliche’ as “Party in the USA.” But yeah… I mean… Springsteen what?

  2. Miley,

You are a great entertainer and have come on to your own from the disney channel. You have a great voice, unlike others that came from there, but man, how can you dis Jay Z that way! You sing his name on your song and never asked who he is or what he sings, that’s bull! You were doing so great. I come from country music, Houson, TX. I did tinn hall , virginia city, growing up on your dad’s and George Strait’s music, along with all the best including Hank Williams JR., I also hear the music that Beyonce and Akon, old 2 pac, and everything else thats been around. You are beautiful, have a great personality, making all the right moves till this one! You need to question your management team, or your song writers. Jay Z is a brand name who carries heavy class, I don’t listen to many of his songs, but you shouldn’t use his name in your song if you don’t know any of his. That line helped caitpult ” Party in the USA “. I know a line of limo drivers who rent to students for home coming and other engagements, and that line itself makes them express themselves in a very high sound. You need to research that or research him before you use his name in your song. Some people would consider that infringment, but the class that he and his mate have are over looking that. You dised him in that interview, that is not right , I’m being honest, I like you and your music very much, but, that is wrong. Take him off your song!

  3. This bothers me on so many levels.

I am NOT a fan of her’s by any means. I don’t have any real negative feeling towards her, just am too old to care, and don’t listen to pop music anymore.

She doesn’t write the songs. I know a lot of ‘musicians’ don’t… I try not to take them serious. She sings about Jay-Z being on the radio symbolizing a party. Considering she doesn’t know what Jay-Z actually raps about, how does she draw the conclusion that Jay-Z is a party starter?

It bothers me because I see a 16 year old girl who is being used like a pawn by the industry to market to little kids. Her quotes are practically a confirmation. Anyone really want their 16 year olds believing in Miley’s contention? Jay-Z ain’t going anywhere in 2-5… It’s an attempt to blur the line between genres.

  4. if anyone calls miley cyrus a slutt its because they are inmature and jealous im 53 years old and not jealous at all she is bright talented and very different from the artist of today shes also a fabulous actress and her fanmily are awesome people thats why people are hateing because of all the love in her family

  5. Your being used like a pawn, but your too young to realize it. That being said, it’s a good song. Wish they gave it to someone who new about the people in the song.

  6. Yeah, you all are so right. People who don’t like Miley Cyrus must just be extremely jealous of her. I’m sure it has noooothing to do with the fact that she is not a good singer, doesn’t write her own songs, is an extreme sellout, and a terrible role model to the nation’s youth. Oh, and the people who call her sluts, yeah they are being so immature. I’m sure that their comments have nooooothing to do with the fact that she is a sixteen year old who is wearing shorts the size of underwear and a tank top that’s lower cut than her bellybutton. But no – you all must be right. It’s pure jealousy.

And to clarify, this message was sarcasm. I feel that I have to specify, because obviously none of the people who like Miley Cyrus have a clue about anything.

  7. Oh man talk about being disconnected to the work, this chic hasn’t got a clue. She is unfortunately a perfect example of an artist who not only doesn’t support her art with passion and conviction, but also could care less about her fans. What impression does that give to not only Jay Z, but to her fans who get the impression that she is a versatile artist, when in reality she has her head so far up her butt, she’s loosing consciousness.
