At first glance, being famous seems like all sunshine and rainbows. However, the majority of people know that is far from the case. In addition to all the problems life intrinsically offers, being famous just adds a plethora of other problems unique to a celebrity’s status. Hence, in 1999, George Harrison’s Hawaiian home was broken into by a super-fan who had been stalking him for years.

This instance is in addition to the near-fatal stabbing Harrison endured at the hands of Michael Abram at his infamous Friar Park Estate. Matter of fact, this near-fatal home invasion allegedly came days after the burglary this article revisits. Regarding the Hawaiian burglary, there was nothing fatal, violent, or malicious about it. Rather, it’s actually quite a comically surreal story about a fan who simply just could not get enough of George Harrison. But of course, it didn’t end well for them, as one cannot simply make themselves at home without the owner’s permission.
Pizza, Root Beer, Laundry, and George Harrison’s Hawaiian Home
George Harrison’s Maui residence had always been intended as a private getaway. However, that changed drastically when 27-year-old Cristin Keleher broke into their home on December 23, 1999. Harrison and his then-wife, Olivia Harrison, were luckily not present at the time of the burglary. Though, they probably wouldn’t have suffered any drastic injuries if they were. As Keleher seemingly wanted to get close to Harrison, not hurt him. Nonetheless, this still clearly warranted a punishment and she received just that.
The funniest aspect of this story is what Keleher did when she entered the house. Upon her entry, Kehler made herself at home, as she made a frozen pizza, grabbed some root beer from the fridge, did a load of laundry, and then called her mom. Subsequently, the police apprehended Keleher, arrested her, and charged her with theft and burglary. Following her arrest, Keleher allegedly uttered, “I thought I had a psychic connection with George,” per The Beatles Bible. Furthermore, Keleher told authorities she entered George Harrison’s home through a sliding glass door.
In 2000, Cristin Keleher was found guilty of both charges and served four months in prison. During the trial, it was confirmed that Keleher had been stalking George Harrison for years before her break-in. Six years later, Cristin Keleher was found dead in a car in California alongside another individual from a confirmed murder-suicide.
