Kicking off Saturday night with a new episode of Saturday Night Live, fans tuned in to watch a few hilarious skits offered by award-winning actress Mikey Madison. Besides showcasing her acting talents, the stars also welcomed Morgan Wallen to the stage to promote his new album I’m the Problem. While the night appeared like just another normal SNL episode, social media erupted when the show ended. Appearing to leave the stage early, Wallen fans jumped online to discuss and debate as to why he left early. And for one SNL writer, he used the moment to mock the country singer.

At the end of SNL, Madison and Wallen stood center stage with the cast behind them. Seeming like the normal routine, the host thanked fans for tuning in and hoped they had a wonderful night. As the music played, Wallen leaned in to Madison, appearing to give her some words of encouragement. He then quickly made his way off stage. The only problem – the cameras continued to roll.

Online, fans discussed the quick exit with one commenting, “Hmm, so having never missed an episode of SNL in decades, Morgan Wallen giving a quick wave, then walking off the stage during goodbyes was odd.” Another person added, “Wow, Morgan Wallen just walking off the stage during the credits? In decades of watching SNL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.”

Morgan Wallen Ready To Get Back To “God’s Country”
As for Wallen, he even posted a picture of a private plane with the caption, “Get Me To God’s Country.” Although showing no animosity toward SNL, writer Josh Patten, who writes for the Weekend Update, decided to share his own picture. But instead of a plane, it was a Krispy Kreme truck. He captioned the post using the same line as Wallen.

With the internet focusing on Wallen over the moment, a source close to the country singer decided to clear the air when they told TMZ that it was all a misunderstanding, “We’re told he entered and exited the studio the same way he did Saturday night during rehearsal and camera blocking all week leading up to the live show… so he routinely headed that way when he thought it was time to go.”

While seeming to only be following orders, Wallen found himself once again taking over headlines for his behavior. But this time, it might have been nothing more than a misunderstanding.
