Even if you love your family more than Santa loves cookies, sometimes a house full of relatives at Christmas can get a bit intense. There are age-old arguments about Ford vs. Chevrolet, white lights vs. colored or white meat or dark. And God forbid anyone dives into religion or politics. But if they do, here are some Christmas songs for you. Family Christmases and hiding wine in a metal Tervis tumbler go together like beer cans and chicken – not that I’ve done that. Those of you who didn’t grow up Southern Baptist and can openly sip a cocktail in front of your daddy might not understand. But, the rest of us are living vicariously through you—and these songs.

3 Country Christmas Drinking Songs
Kristian Bush – “Thinking About Drinking for Christmas”
Kristian Bush, “Thinking About Drinking for Christmas”: Sugarland’s Kristian Bush sings this song, but he wrote it with fellow country star Chris Young. It specifically delves into all the reasons you might need to have a drinkie poo this holiday season.
Lyrics include: Christmas is a very special time of year…| Any minute now my relatives will all be here…| Please God don’t let me| Run out of Beer
Bush is extra busy this holiday season. He’s back on tour with Sugarland, who will conclude their tour with Little Big Town in a couple of weeks. In addition, he’s playing a slew of shows with his other duo, Billy Pilgrim.

RaeLynn – “Jingle Bell Drunk”
RaeLynn, “Jingle Bell Drunk”: Raelynn isn’t thinking about drinking for Christmas. She’s already committed to the act.
RaeLynn wrote “Jingle Bell Drunk” with fellow artist ERNEST, hit writer and producer Corey Crowder and up-and-coming hit-maker Rocky Block.
RaeLynn sings: All I want for Christmas is tequila in my stocking| Get them sleigh bells rocking, Grandma pop and locking| Bubba brought a new girl that nobody even knows| I think she shrunk her clothes, but that’s just how it goes
This song could even pull double duty on the redneck Christmas songs list. The Season 2 “The Voice” alum also sings about lying about needing tobacco so she and her man can find a deserted backroad.
This Texas girl may sing these songs, but she doesn’t live this life. She’s a happily married, fairly new mom. If you want to see RaeLynn in concert this year, you had better hurry. You only have a couple of shows left.
Big & Rich – “Drunk on Christmas”
Big & Rich, “Drunk On Christmas”: It’s a theme. “Drunk On Christmas” explores the notion that Christmas with family requires alcohol.
Lyrics include: That’s why I’m drinking drinking drinking| I’m gonna drink all day| I’m coming home for Christmas and my family’s insane| Just got to make it through the day| And there’s no other way| I’m gonna get drunk, drunk, drunk on Christmas| So I can’t be sober when I’m over, everyone’s bipolar
Rich even has a version of this song with late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon. This song shouldn’t be confused with Darren Criss’ “Drunk On Christmas,” which is decidedly lower proof.
