Rock music isn’t always about storytelling. But when it is, the stories those incredible songs tell are quite engaging and fascinating. Unless you’re a diehard classic rock fan, you might not know that the stories and compositions behind the following three classic rock songs actually have sequels that continue with their themes. Let’s take a look! One of these might actually surprise you.

The ‘Abbey Road’ Medley
The Beatles’ second-to-last album Abbey Road is a truly incredible piece of work. Naturally, the whole album was lauded and praised by critics after it was released in 1969. Songs like “Here Comes The Sun” and “Come Together” are still beloved songs to this day. Those tracks, along with “Something”, were highlights of the record that made it commercially viable. However, not everyone might know that the second side of the album features a medley of songs that are technically all one big song.
After “You Never Give Me Your Money” ends, there’s not actually any hard cut-off to the song. Rather, the songs essentially weave into each other without a break. The sequels to “You Never Give Me Your Money” include “Sun King”, “Mean Mr. Mustard”, “Polythene Pam”, “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window” (famously written about a fan that broke into Paul McCartney’s house), “Golden Slumbers”, “Carry That Weight”, “The End”, and the hidden track “Her Majesty”, in that order.
“Sweet Thing” by David Bowie
Did you know that “Sweet Thing” by David Bowie has its own sequel? “Sweet Thing” is a standout track from Bowie’s 1974 record Diamond Dogs.
It’s a shame that this album is mainly remembered for “Rebel Rebel”, considering the beautifully orchestrated three-part medley that takes place on the album. The medley starts with “Sweet Thing”, followed by “Candidate”, then “Sweet Thing (Reprise)”.
“Another Brick In The Wall” by Pink Floyd
This entry on our list of rock songs with sequels is quite well-known, but I think it’s worth revisiting. “Another Brick In The Wall” comes from Pink Floyd’s famed concept record The Wall from 1979. “Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2” is the sequel to the song, and the sequel ended up becoming the band’s only no. 1 hit in the US and UK. Another song follows to form a trio, titled “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives”.
