If you have finished the final season of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, don’t fear, as there is more of his epically expansive and expensive television storytelling happening right now. The story in question is Sheridan’s new show, Landman, which is currently streaming on Paramount.

To some, the show is another example of great American television, to others, it’s just another multi-million dollar soap opera meant to garner eyeballs and add dollars. That being so, there are two undeniably great elements of the show, Billy Bob Thorton’s sense of humor and the country music featured in season one. Regarding the latter, here are three prominent country musicians featured several times in the inaugural season of Landman.
Ella Langley
2024 undeniably and partially belonged to Ella Langley. Thanks to her duet of “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green, Langley has seemingly acquired every opportunity under the sun. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Langley’s music appeared in several episodes of the Paramount show.
In total, Ella Langley’s music appeared in episodes two and four. The songs featured were Langley’s singles, “Make Me Wanna Smoke” and “I Blame The Bar” from her albums Excuse The Mess and Hungover. Frankly, it’s a bit surprising that the show’s staff chose the first of the two songs given its lack of notoriety. Nonetheless, it fits well into the setting Landman entails.
Turnpike Troubadours
The Turnpike Troubadours are the band that arise the most in season one of the show. With a total of five musical appearances, the Troubadours’ music appears in episodes one, two, three, and four. Given their dominating presence, it seems Taylor Sheridan has quite a soft spot for the group.
Out of the five songs featured in the show, two of the most notable include “Mean Old Sun” and “Gin, Smoke, and Lies.” We won’t divulge where they come up, but again, they match the setting in which they are hoping to amplify.
The Red Clay Strays
Okay, here are the true country music owners of 2024. Well, to some that is. Nonetheless, The Red Clay Strays’ music appeared on episodes six and seven of Landman a total of four times. Like Langley, these guys ruled country music in 2024, so it might be fair to assume this opportunity just fell into their lap.
All of the songs featured in the show are the very songs that gained them their towering notability. Particularly their viral sensation and hit song, “Wondering Why.” In addition to their biggest hit, their songs “Sunshine (Western AF Version),” “She’s No Good,” and “Moment of Truth” were featured as well.
