The entertainment industry has so many award shows that one may argue that they are all, in fact, meaningless, and that the results are trivial as well as arbitrary. Now, there is certainly an argument for that. And one cannot deny that winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony isn’t impressive. Becoming a member of the EGOT club is arguably the highest possible honor an entertainer can receive. That being said, there are only a handful who have done so.

Since the EGOT club was brought into existence, there have only been 21 artists to receive the honor. The 21 members include directors, actors, composers, producers, and popular musicians. For this article, we will focus on the popular musicians, and here are three of them who have earned an EGOT membership.
Elton John
Elton John is a generational talent, though most generational talents aren’t even EGOT members. John secured his EGOT membership in 2024 after he won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special. That’s thanks to his concert film, Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.
Prior to the completion of the quadrifecta, John won numerous Grammys, two Oscars, and a Tony for Best Original Score on the production of Aida. Needless to say, the man is breathing rare air, and he is one of the few pop culture icons from the 70s to do so.
John Legend
John Legend is one of the most talented musicians of the 21st century. Consequently, Legend has displayed his musical skills across several different mediums. Legend scored his EGOT membership at 39 years old after he won an Emmy for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in 2018.
Before legend became an official member, he won several Grammys, a Tony Award for Revival, and an Oscar for the film Selma. Legend was not only one of the youngest people to join the club, but also the first black man to do so.
Barbra Streisand
Barbra Streisand is just as well-known for her film career as she is for her music career. Hence, it isn’t all that shocking that she is a member of the coveted club. Streisand finally earned her membership after she won the Tony Award for Star of the Decade in 1970. She was 27 when she received the EGOT status.
There is no need to count all of Streisand’s awards, as there are simply too many to keep track of. Before she claimed the EGOT title, she had won a handful of Grammys, a handful of Oscars, and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievements in Entertainment in 1965.
