Country music doesn’t have many songs with explicit lyrics. Sometimes, an artist will throw in a few less-offensive curse words like damn or hell. However, most albums in the genre won’t come with a parental advisory sticker. Every now and then, though, a song calls for a few choice words that aren’t exactly radio-friendly.

The songs listed below come from country artists who aren’t shy about using explicit lyrics. They know that sometimes anger, heartbreak, or a series of tough times calls for some words that would make younger listeners’ moms reach for a bar of soap if they heard them singing along. It goes without saying that all of the tracks below are a little not safe for work.

1. “F**k It” by Danae Hayes
Danae Hays is a comedian, actress, content creator, and musician. Nearly all of her songs contain explicit lyrics and blend her brand of comedy with country music. She found early chart success with her 2023 single “Rode Hard.” Today (July 25), she released her latest single, “F**k It.”
Despite what some might think, this song contains some solid advice. She went through a nasty public breakup last year before going on tour. The balance of making crowds laugh while going through dark times was wearing on her. “So, one day I just woke up and I was like, ‘You know what, Danae? There’s so much life ahead of you. You just got to f**k it and move on,’” she told People about the song.
2. “D**k in Dixie” by Hank III
Hank III is the grandson of country icon Hank Williams and is no stranger to songs with explicit lyrics. He has plenty of tunes that could have made this list. However, “D**k in Dixie” from his 2006 album Straight to Hell fits like a glove.
This lightning-speed bluegrass-influenced song sees Williams voicing his opinion on the country music industry. He takes aim at pop country and lets fly with some choice words and a heavy dose of truth.
3. “Two Words” by Kolby Cooper
Kolby Cooper opened his 2020 EP Vol. 2 with “2 Words.” This is a breakup song that skips the heartbreak and goes straight to putting a middle finger in the air. In the song, he lists several ways he’s told his ex that they’re finished. In the end, he has to break out a certain two-word phrase to get his point across.
4. “See You in Court” by Treaty Oak Revival
This banger of a divorce song from country rockers Treaty Oak Revival’s 2023 album, Have a Nice Day, doesn’t pack as many explicit lyrics as the others on the list. However, they heavily emphasize an F-bomb in the opening line. Also, the final line of the chorus is B**ch, I’ll see you in court, and lead singer Sam Canty says it with his whole chest. Whether you can crank this one up in certain company or not, it’s a highlight from a stellar album.
