Arctic Monkeys Prep DVD, Welcome P. Diddy Into Their Ranks?

One thing you should know about the Arctic Monkeys if you don’t already — they’re pretty awesome. Questionable name, excellent band.

After last year’s U.K. release of the Arctic Monkeys at The Apollo DVD, the British rock band is preparing an American package of the DVD and a bonus CD for release May 5. The additional CD has an American flavor: it’s 10 tracks of live recordings from Austin, Texas. In addition, the Arctic Monkeys are readying their third full-length album for release later this year.

Warp Films produced the indie group’s 20-song, 76-minute DVD. In the U.S. combo, both the DVD and CD include hit tracks “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor,” “Dancing Shoes” and “When the Sun Goes Down.”]

In related news, The Monkeys may just have a new member — Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs (P. Diddy to you and me), who bonded with the boys while they were in New York working on their new album. Didddy posted the following message on Twitter: “Just kickin’ it wit my boy Matt from the Arctic Monkeys! I’m the newest member of the group! I’m signing him to Bad Boy!”

We’ll believe it when we see it.

  1. Why does an article from 2009 feature a picture of their group with Andy Nicholson, when he left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Nick O’Malley?
