Nudedragons

What do you get when you rearrange the letters in the band name Soundgarden? Nudedragons is the name of the group that boasts the three living members of the band—Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron. And recently that trifecta featured Seattle vocalist Shaina Shepherd during a benefit show for the organization SMooCH, which raises money for Seattle Children’s Hospital. Playing at the famed venue The Showbox, the new quartet wowed fans. And if you believe the rumors, they may be playing more shows in the future. Shaina has a torrential voice and that was on display late in 2024 as she was accompanyed by others, including Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses.

SAULT

The mysterious British-born band SAULT plays music in the vein of Booker T. & the M.G.’s and other largely instrumental groups that rely on groove, funk, and spirit. For a while the band’s members remained anonymous, but more recently their identities have become clear. Regardless, the group has only been gaining steam since they began releasing studio albums in 2019. But now feels like something of a tipping point for the group. They released their latest LP Acts of Faith in 2024, and it’s either now or never to get on the bandwagon before it pulls away into outer space!

Khruangbin

Another group that relies largely on instrumental music and groove, this Houston-born band has been performing since 2010 but 2025 will be the year they become a household name. Dreamy, their music is worth basking in. Perfect for having on around the house or for getting deep while driving solo down the highway. Dive into the ocean that is Khruangbin today or be left high and dry in the new year, music fans!
