Other than Kanye West’s unexpected appearance at the 2025 Grammys, the most headline-grabbing moment of the evening was Beyoncé taking home the award for Best Country Album of The Year. In particular, there was one artist whose reaction to Beyoncé’s accolade had the internet buzzing—none other than country music sensation, Kacey Musgraves.

Following Beyoncé’s win, the cameras panned over to Kacey Musgraves, whose stoic face had Beyoncé fans jumping to conclusions on social media. In silly internet rules, artists apparently can’t be upset about losing an award without having disdain for the recipient. Regardless, we’ve gotten another Musgrave reaction thanks to an additional video following the viral moment.
Kacey Musgraves and Her Unspoken Reaction
Prior to the Grammys, Kacey Musgraves has always been very complimentary of Beyoncé. Matter of fact, Musgraves co-wrote a couple of songs with songwriter, INK, for Cowboy Carter. Although, none of those songs made it on the final cut of the album.
When the Grammys was all said and done, a paparazzi TikToker rushed towards Kacey Musgraves and urged her to open up about Beyoné’s win. In the video, the TikToker asks, “Any thoughts on Beyoncé winning Country Album of The Year?” Musgraves’ response was simple and short, as she did not utter a word. Rather, she just smiled and gave a thumbs up to the camera.
Given her response, Musgraves’ perspective on the matter is still unclear. While we side with the fact, this is mostly a bunch of nothing. If she actually happened to be upset about Beyoncé’s award, at least she had the class and kindness not to publicly rip into her fellow female musician. Furthermore, one thing that should be considered is the competition inherently embedded in the Grammys.
When looked at through that lens, Kacey Musgraves’ response becomes a bit more justifiable, as it’s nothing personal. Instead, Musgraves simply tried her best and came up short in the competition. Regardless of what you believe, props to both musicians for making it to music’s most coveted stage.
