Whether saving trees from being turned into paper, or choosing who in fact should see the green, AC/DC is feeling the winds of change in the musical environment.

Whether saving trees from being turned into paper, or choosing who in fact should see the green, AC/DC is feeling the winds of change in the musical environment.

Ticketmaster has just announced that AC/DC’s next tour will feature ticket-free technology. This new process is will-call based, and requires the concertgoer to provide a valid photo ID and the credit card which completed the transaction, upon admission.

AC/DC decided to tread on new terrain “to help ensure fan club members and fans purchasing designated seats will be able to secure tickets at face value,” according to a statement from Ticketmaster.

To rid ticket-resellers of their ammunition, Ticketmaster arms concert attendees with this stricter more direct approach. Both environmentalists and concert patrons alike give a ‘thumbs-up’ to the equation where no paper equals no problem.

Trendy? Why wait? Earlier this summer Tom Waits used will-call based ticketing for his 13 date US theatre tour, to get the pesky third party out of the ticketing mix. Earlier this month Metallica made a new eco-friendly footprint as the first to use Ticketmaster’s technology in Europe. Keep a look out for forced will-call tours; soon they will be as easy to spot as reusable grocery sacs and hybrid cars.
