Part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Garth Brooks appeared to be country music as he sold over 170 million albums throughout his career. Knowing how to write hit after hit, the singer even became the youngest recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in 2020. Releasing his latest album, Time Traveler, back in 2023, Brooks once took the stage to perform “She’s Every Woman” to the person who helped him write the song.

Working with Victoria Shaw on the hit song “The River”, Brooks decided to join forces once again in 1995 for “She’s Every Woman.” Unknown at the time, but the song would go on to land the country singer another No. 1 hit as it dominated the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The popular song was the first single on the album Fresh Horse.
While wanting to honor the talents of Shaw and what they produced together, Brooks once took the stage, telling the crowd that the person who wrote this song was in the crowd. As fans cheered, the singer didn’t miss a beat, quickly jumping into the lyrics that included, “She’s sun and rain, she’s fire and ice, a little crazy but it’s nice/And when she gets/mad, you best leave her alone/’Cause she’ll rage just like a river, then she’ll beg you to forgive her/Oh, she’s every woman that I’ve ever known.”
The internet loved Brooks’ rendition, claiming “Acoustic Garth is the best Garth” and “Nothing to say. I just can’t hold back the tears.”
Garth Brooks Declares Trisha Yearwood An “Icon”
Gaining over 12,000 likes, fans filled the comment section with love for the song. “Nothing to say. I just can’t hold back the tears.” Another person continued, “I knew every freaking word yet cannot remember why I walked into a room.” And one comment read, “Love how he plays his own lead guitar. Talent. Thank you Mr. Brooks for sharing your gift.”
While fans cried over the performance, Brooks himself also shed a tear recently when his wife, Trisha Yearwood, received a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Speaking about Yearwood’s career, he insisted, “I was just so proud. I’m always proud of her, but to see and hear her recognized like that – and to hear people use the word ‘icon’ in the same breath as her name – just took me someplace new.”
Brooks didn’t stop there, adding that Yearwood was nothing short of an icon. “She is an icon. I know what a world-class talent and force she is…and we all know what an incredible vocalist she is…but I love it when others really take notice, too.”
