Yesterday, our March/April cover subjects the Alabama Shakes announced their fall tour plans. They’re bringing along their Nashville buddies Fly Golden Eagle.

I first learned about Fly Golden Eagle through the Shakes’ Brittany Howard and she continues to spread the gospel about their sensual psych-funk. Howard cameo’d with the band at Bonnaroo and previously the Shakes invited them to open a pair of Alabama shows.

For a recent story in the Nashville Scene, Howard told me:

“I heard about Fly Golden Eagle through our engineer, Andrija Tokic. He was mixing their album when we came in for a session and he let us take a listen. I was immediately blown away by the tones I was hearing and the songwriting! I’ve been an avid fan and have been sharing them with everyone I meet. I was thrilled to have them open a few shows with us in Alabama. It was exciting to watch them play every night and they got us really amped to go on. Also, I’m just a huge fan of theirs and singing along never gets old. Fly Golden Eagle forever.”

You might even get a taste of Fly Golden Eagle before the fall. Check out their summer tour dates with Brooklyn’s Clear Plastic Masks and Birmingham’s Banditos here.

Listen to FGE’s “Psyche’s Dagger,” watch the Shakes’ absolutely chills-inducing rendition of “Be Mine” on Jimmy Fallon (at the 37-minute mark), and see all the fall tour dates below.
